High Performance Isn’t About Doing More

December 11, 2025•3 min read

There’s a trap we can fall into in real estate. We start getting results and think the path to continued success lies in just doing more.

We think if we can grind harder, work longer, push farther and hustle more then that’s the ticket to the big time.

It’s not. High performance isn’t about doing more. Pushing harder is not how you build a sustainable career. More hustle, more grind is the path to burnout, not success.

Instead, you need to understand that no matter how driven you are, there comes a threshold you need to step over if you’re looking to become elite.

If you really want to be a high performer, you cannot shrink yourself to greatness. At some point you will need to hone in on what you do best and build a team around you if you want more.

You cannot do it all

If you’re consistent with your activity, chances are you’re busy. There are listings, calls, and negotiations to handle each and every day.

Momentum is likely building, but so is the weight of everything still on your to do list.

There comes a point where, no matter how driven you are, you can no longer be a solo operator.

You can’t keep doing it all and expect to grow, perform, scale, and have any sort of life.

At some stage, the agents who are always moving the needle learn this truth. They begin to understand that high performance isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing less of the wrong stuff, so you can do more of the right stuff.

What can you let go?

The question then becomes: What are you still holding onto that someone else could do?

Chances are there is an array of tasks that could be done far better by someone else. Maybe it’s writing listing copy. Perhaps it’s organising those property repairs or improvements that your vendor needs.

Or maybe it’s the little things like sending out thank you cards and settlement gifts.

Now consider this… what would it free you up to become if you finally let those things go? What high-value activities could you focus on and deliver really, really well?

Go on, I bet you came back with some quick and clear answers to both the questions above, which means now is the ideal time to start building your A-Team - because the better your support, the bigger your future.

Small steps, a big leap

Yes, building a team might feel like a leap. It might be frightening to stand on that precipice and consider hiring people to help you.

You don’t need to hire five people tomorrow. But you do need to stop doing it all alone.

Start by asking:

  • What are the three lowest-value tasks I’m still doing each week?

  • What would it cost to delegate just 5–10 hours of that?

  • What would that free me up to actually focus on?

Maybe it’s an admin assistant. Maybe it’s someone managing your social media, prep, or buyer callbacks. Maybe it’s a VA for two hours a day to take the pressure off your inbox.

You don’t need perfect. You just need support, and a system that helps you stay in your zone of genius.

Start lean. Build smart. But start now. Your future self will thank you.
