Making It Memorable
Think about it…when was your last positive and memorable experience as a customer?
Was it the barista who remembered your order? The insurance officer who helped you lodge a claim? The motor registry representative who greeted you with a smile and helped you navigate that registration transfer?
Now consider this…what exactly made that experience memorable? Because often it’s something small. It’s not grand gestures like waiving fees, throwing in a freebie, or putting on a show.
It’s the little things, the attention to detail, the way they listened, their empathy or professionalism, the smile, the way they made you feel.
The ingredients of memorable
Memorable doesn’t necessarily need to be anything extraordinary, over the top, or absolutely unique. Often, it comes down to the human connection.
In fact, leaving someone with a positive, memorable impression simply requires:
Enthusiasm
Positive energy
Sincere and empathetic listening
Authenticity
A genuine desire to be of service
And these ingredients aren’t forced. When you enjoy working with people and are genuinely invested in helping them, this ‘good stuff’ comes naturally and automatically.
But it also starts within…
You cannot fake it to make it authentic
When it comes to being authentic, you cannot fake it to make it. You either genuinely care about someone else’s needs, happiness, and goals or you don’t. And it shows.
This authenticity starts within. It begins within us in the first instance. In other words, it’s an inside job.
We need to be happy with ourselves before we can bring our best to what we do. We need to be clear on what drives us and sure of the difference we can make.
We’re now in the first few week of spring, which makes this the ideal time to check yourself and find the joy in doing what we do.
Get back to your ‘why’ – Why you’re in this role, what you hope to achieve, why this is a career suited to you.
Remember the ‘what’ – What is it you genuinely love about real estate? Is it that moment when you know you’ve made a real difference to someone’s future? Is it getting a tricky negotiation across the line? Is it simply the people you meet and the stories that come with the properties we sell?
Revisit the how – How do you make a difference? How do you define success? How do you genuinely help people? How do you make people feel?
They won’t remember what you said
As the saying goes, ‘people won’t remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel’.
So ask yourself: how does it feel to work with you? What will past clients, current buyers and sellers, and future prospects remember you for?
Be honest with yourself, will they remember you for:
Your enthusiasm?
Your positive energy?
Your sincere and empathetic listening?
Your authenticity?
Your genuine desire to be of service?
Today isn’t just game day. It’s an opportunity to make memorable impressions. It’s the chance to make each connection count and to put a smile on a seller or buyer’s face.
It’s your moment to genuinely assist people with your expertise, insight and professionalism. It’s the chance to make people feel valued, heard, and understood.
It’s the first weekend of spring. Make it memorable.
